A .psd file is an image saved in the Adobe Photoshop Document (PSD) format. PSD files save one or more image layers and may include adjustment layers, layer masks, annotations, and other elements. The format is standard among graphics professionals for saving graphics, edited photos, and other artwork.

If you no longer need to edit the layers in a .psd file, you can convert it to a common image format, such as JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), TIFF (.tif), or BMP (.bmp). JPEG is a good option since it is so widely supported and you can publish it online. However, it uses lossy compression that slightly degrades the image when reducing its size. If it is essential to maintain image quality, you can choose PNG or GIF, which uses lossless compression and also supports transparency. BMP is another option for maintaining image quality but results in large file sizes since it does not compress the image data.
