An .svg file is an image saved in the Scalable Vector Graphics format. These 2D vector images are comprised of "paths," such as lines, curves, and shapes. Because SVG files store image data as vectors rather than pixels, the images they contain can be resized without losing quality.

Some image viewers can open SVG files, but many support only raster graphics. Therefore, you may need to convert an SVG image to a raster format such as BMP (.bmp), JPEG (.jpg), or PNG (.png) to view it. Doing so will remove the image's path data and convert it to pixels.

NOTE: To preserve the vector version of your image, make a copy of your SVG file before converting it to another format.
