A .pcd file is a raster image saved in the Kodak Photo CD (PCD) format. Kodak developed the format to store digital copies of actual photographs on CDs after being scanned with Kodak's photo processing hardware. PCD images support 24-bit color and are often scanned at a resolution of 3072x2048 pixels but may also reach up to 6144x4096 pixels.

Since not many image viewers support .pcd files, you may want to convert the images to more widely-supported formats, such as JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), or BMP (.bmp). JPEG is a good choice since so many image viewers support the format. However, it uses lossy compression that degrades the image when reducing its size. If you need to maintain the quality of the image, you can choose PNG or GIF, which uses lossless compression that does not degrade the image when compressing it. Additionally, if the file size is not an issue, BMP is an excellent option for maintaining image quality since it does not compress the image data.
