A .3fr file is a raw photo created by a Hasselblad digital camera, such as the X1D II 50C or 907X Special Edition. The image data a 3FR file contains is saved exactly as it was recorded by the camera's CCD sensor, rather than being processed or compressed. Retaining all this data allows photographers to more precisely edit the photo a 3FR file contains. However, it also results in 3FR files having large file sizes.

Converting a 3FR file to a more common image format can both reduce its file size and allow you to open it in popular image viewers and editors. If you're more interested in reducing the image's file size than retaining its quality, convert it to the JPEG (.jpg) format. If you're more interested in retaining quality than reducing file size, convert it to the BMP (.bmp), TIFF (.tiff), or PNG (.png) format.

NOTE: Converting a 3FR file to a non-raw format removes the raw data it contains. Therefore, you may want to retain a copy of your 3FR file for future editing.
