An .rgb file is a color bitmap image. Silicon Graphics developed the RGB format for use on their workstations. Notably, the RGB format is not the same thing as the RGB color model. However, RGB images do use the RGB color model to define their pixels' colors.

Silicon Graphics went bankrupt in 2009, so the RGB format is mostly obsolete. To make RGB images easier to work with, you may want to convert them to a more common image format, such as JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), or BMP (.bmp). Then, you and others will be able to open the images in most image viewers and editors.
