A .raf file is a raster image saved in the RAW Fujifilm (RAF) format. Various Fujifilm digital camera models, including the FinePix S1 and X-T3, capture images in the format. RAF primarily saves image data in an uncompressed format, but some camera models, like the X-T3, may optionally compress the image data in the RAF file.

RAF files are typically large because they usually store data in an uncompressed format. This allows you to store more accurate and high-quality images, but storing or sharing RAF images can become a hassle since they take up so much space. To solve this problem, you can convert RAF images to the JPEG (.jpg) format, although some image degradation will occur because the format utilizes lossy compression. If you do not want to lose any image quality, you can choose the PNG (.png) or TIFF (.tif) formats, which use lossless compression.
