.palm Icon

A .palm file is a bitmap image that was created for use on a Palm OS mobile device, such as a PDA. Often, PALM files contain a logo or icon used by a Palm OS application. Multiple versions of the PALM format exist. Later versions of the format support transparency and run-length encoding; earlier versions do not.

Because Palm OS is obsolete, most image viewers and editors cannot open PALM files. To make your PALM file easier to use, you may want to convert it to a more common image format, such as JPEG (.jpg) or PNG (.png). Then, you'll be able to open the image your file contains in most programs that support images.

NOTE: If your PALM file contains transparent sections, you'll most likely want to convert it to the PNG format, to preserve those sections' transparency.
