A .miff file is a bitmap image saved in the Magick Image File Format (MIFF). The format may store compressed or uncompressed pixel data and supports image depths of 8 to 32. MIFF images may be digital photos or graphics and comprise one image or multiple concatenated together.

Few image viewers support MIFF files, which leads many to convert MIFF images to more common image formats, such as JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), or BMP (.bmp). However, if you are converting a high-quality MIFF image with uncompressed data to JPEG, the resulting image will experience some degradation since JPEG uses lossy compression. Therefore, you might want to choose BMP since it will not degrade the image. Additionally, if you want to convert a MIFF file to a more common format that will reduce its size while not reducing quality, choose PNG or GIF, which use lossless compression.
