A .dcr file is a camera raw image saved in the Kodak Digital Camera RAW (DCR) format. Various Kodak digital camera models, such as the 350D and 1D MarkII, capture photographs in the DCR format. DCR files store uncompressed image data exactly how the camera's sensor captured it.

Since .dcr files are uncompressed, they are typically large, which can become problematic if you have many .dcr images. To reduce their size and better share .dcr files, you can convert them to the compressed JPEG (.jpg) format, which reduces the size and can be published online. However, some image degradation will occur since the JPEG format is lossy. Alternatively, you can convert DCR images to PNG (.png) or TIFF (.tif) formats, which use lossless compression.
